It's a weekend bakeout ~ Part II ~

So here's part II of my bakeout weekend!
Found a recipe and tried Durian Chiffon this time!!

My love for durian....  Is just crazy!!!
I can eat it every week which I have, and still not get sick of it!! But body couldn't take it and fell lil sick stuffing myself with all the creamy and sweet durian. Need more liang cha pleaseeeeee.
And for info sake, the amount of calories in a durian is NO JOKE! An average of 1350cals in a freaking 1kg durian!!!!! About 54cals/seed you eat. Of WTF!!!
Why is it that food that always tastes good SO HIGH in calories?!?  Come on..........
But on the other hand, I do have to tell you that there's quite a high amount of nutrients in durians.
It helps to increase muscle strength and blood pressure, bowel movement and skin health.
LOL!! Worth indulging in??
Oh well, everything must be taken in moderation right? Too much of something is always bad.

FYI, my fav durian place is still 717 at Koran.
Price is good, people are friendly and place is clean!!

OK let's not divert to a durian topic and get bake to the Durian Chiffon!

Alright,  chiffon cakes are known for their sensitivity hence I paid a lot of attention to detail when doing this cake. Yet, it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to be.  Not soft enough as a chiffon should be, so I'm quite upset.
So here's the recipe for you guys to try!

Durian Chiffon
Yields 5 minis or 8" chiffon cake.
Mine could yield

Tips:
* turn the chiffon cake upside to cool at a higher ground for about 30-60mins.
* you can use a spatula to take it out or actually just use your fingers to press the side and top. Need not be scared of the chiffon!

Happy baking!

It's a Bakeout Weekend ~Part I~

Bake time has resumed over the weekend!!
Wooootz!
Finally got my hands on baking Nutella Blossoms for a friend's 1mth old baby.
Found this recipe online (apam polkadot) and all was good but felt that the packaging could have been better.
Let's start with the recipe!

*Nutella Blossoms*

Ingredients:
3eggs
275g flour
220g caster sugar
150ml milk
3tsp baking powder
1tsp ovalette
Recipe doesn't call for vanilla but I added 11/2 tsp vanilla extract for flavour
Fillings: you can choose Nutella, nice berry,  strawberry jam, up to you actually.  In my case I'm using Nutella today.
Colours of your  choice

Steps:
1. Sift flour and baking powder and put aside.
2. Beat eggs, sugar and ovalette till pale.
3. Add in flour mixture and mix well.
4. Divide into portions and mix colours.
5. Put all colours into piping bags including Nutella.
6. Fill 1/3 cupcake base with colour mixture.
7. Add Nutella.
8. Fill cup with colour mixture again.
9. Now let your creative juices flow and design your Blossoms!
10. Steam for 10 minutes.

What I learnt:
* I do not think a normal cupcake cup is suitable for this recipe. It is too big even after I bought those mini sized cups hence it turned out dry and hard. I'll use the very mini paper cups in future to make mini ones.
* Cover the steamer top with cloth to prevent water from dripping into the cake during opening.

That's all to this simple recipe guys!
Happy trying it out!!

AQ Chantique

Yes, I'm a sucker for beauty products and I just LOVE anything that could make me look beautiful or slim! Darn.
So I always end up trying this and that, buying this and that and not finishing the product before buying a new one.

As you can see from previous posts, I was on DRx products previously and super satisfied with the results. Till I found this other product which I Oh Sooooo Love too!!!

Don't get me wrong, DRx product are still good. The comodone formulae helped get rid of my "strawberry nose" which I had for the longest time and I'm still using it.
But for normal daily moisturising and enhancement serums, I found solace in AQChantique, and Indonesian brand.

A colleague of mine tried this product and found it to work. Her complexion became better and her scars lightened!

You first go on a 3week "skin detox" period  where u cannot use any make up. All u can use is the AM and PM moisturizers and the whitening serum.
But you can use eye make up though.
Skin will start to peel during this process and seriously...  I can get quite gross!
I couldn't stand it seriously.....
I looked like a monster peeling away!!!

The toner they give also stings a little and you can only use it at night, 3 times a week. It's quite strong hence not recommended to use too regularly.

After 3weeks of suffering, you'll finally start to see the fruits of your suffering!!!
DEWY SKIN!!
°~°~°LOVVVVVVEEEEEE°~°~°

Now I'm on to using the pearly make up Base!!
This can only be used after your 3 week skin detox.
Awesome results I have to say!

During the 3 weeks I really felt if this is all worth it and what it it didn't work. Afterall it's one of those Facebook beauty adverts which may not all be effective. But this one really surprised me!
Best part is its affordable!
A set of day and night cream, toner, cleansing gel and serum only at SGD 120!!
Awesome or whattttt!!
Super L. O. V. E!

Too bad I didn't take pics of the process.
I'll upload pics of my face next time OK!

Opal Hair Mask

I've tried several hair masks and hair treatments before from partene, Dove, L'Oréal,  L'Oréal Mythic Oil range, Kerastase, and so many more I can't remember but I have to say, they all gave me the same result -  Nothing Fantastic!

But this brand I tried,  I think, for now, will leave a deep impression on me! It's awesome!
Just ONE MINUTE is all it takes!!!
It's OPAL HAIR TREATMENT!!
It's a HK product which has been on shelves for a long long time but seems like I only got to know about it.

OK I admit, I took very long and from much persuasion to try this product. Cheryl bought bottles and bottles and recommended it to us and I was prolly the last to even try! Wish I could have acted sooner.  LOL.
She's now like a supplier, an endorser of it, walking around with many samples! LOL

Apart from the one minute magic, Opal Hair mask smells awesome!!!
I prefer the red one compared to the orange one though.
The red one is meant for intensive treatment for dry and damaged hair while the orange one is for normal hair treatment.
I heard there's a green one too but can't seem to find it online.

Lastly, Opal Hair mask doesn't cost a bomb! Super ubber easy on the pocket!!!!

You can find it on QOO10 for about SGD 8-9 and they give lotsa samples!! These samples are convenient for travel or also to give out freely to the ones u live to let them try it!

Go try this awesome product!
Definitely no regrets!

YW

My friend can be a supplier now with all the samples and bottles she has!!!
QOO10 seller is very generous with samples!
Wooooootz!

Brew Maison

Finally made reservations for this place that apparently serves very pretty latte Art!

Found them on Instagram (but not sure how) and saw that they served ubber pretty latte Art coffee!

They had sanrio and Disney characters drawn on the coffee they served and I was darn bent on making my way down to get a hello kitty coffee!

They only take reservations as u have to follow their schedule if u wanna order their latte art coffee,  so I managed to get a 3pm slot on a Saturday afternoon! Niceeeee.

Went in and first thing I felt was their ventilation wasn't very good.  I could smell the heavy "food smell"  that I terribly hate.  But well since I'm there already,  whatever.
Anyways, I was in love with the decor when I stepped in.  Loved the pastels,  whites,  sweet flower decor and space! I have to say it was pretty big for a cafe. Whole concept reminds me of sweet Korean cafes and that's what exactly Brew Maison is about.
Alright now the menu.........
OK guys,  you gotta improve your menu. It doesnt speak  to  me!!!!
U need to have more detail as it's not very self explanatory and it's speaks more to Koreans than to locals! Like what's Gomu Latte?? U could have written in fine print "sweet potato latte" and it would made everyone's life easier!

OK,  we ordered Gomu latte, a normal latte, Katsu curry pasta, sakina bites (which is actually fish nuggets) and a waffle. All these for a reasonable under $30!! Really reasonable I have to say.
Like it's 4 bucks for a coffee and they don't have gst or svc charge!! And latte art coffee mind you!

So even though the food was just average, it's reasonable for that price.

Would I go again........ 80% NO and 20% maybe,  just to try their breakfast and also have other pics drawn on my coffee!!

TGiF!

Praise the Lord!
It was a great superb Friday indeed!!
Finally tried The Sushi Bar and it was definitely worth the wait!
OK la, we didn't wait for THAT long cos we came earlier to queue at 1215, but only managed to enter around 1pm.
Still quite a wait yeaaa...

Anywayz, we tried so many different stuff and that's the beauty of having so many people at the table!
Order more,  try more and share more!!!

Some awesome things you should try, are the sirloin steak, scallop mentaiko, salmon aburi, handroll.

ALL WERE GOOOOOOOD!
sirloin was seared nicely,  sashimi was fresh,  juicy and thick, seaweed for handroll was crispy and need I say more???

So go try it!
Warning: queue is at least 1 hour + so do reserve! They'll only hold your table to 10mins but they're nice to not throw u outta the queue even if your friends aren't here yet :)

Give it 4 of 5 popcorns as service could have improved.
They couldn't handle the crowd and got orders wrong more than once, so it could get quite irritating. But oh well,  let's all just enjoy the good food and be patient yeap!

Let's welcome contestant no. 7, July!

Oh, so the end of the half year mark has finally come.
It's now the 7th month of the year,  the 7th month of 2014 and it's prolly abt 3more months before I turn 30!
Time really does fly and it seems like it flew faster this year. Is it really because I'm turning 30???
Is it what people say "time flies esp after 30"??

I choose not to dwell too much into that, but instead look forward to the new and unforeseen things that are coming ahead for me!
You know, dwelling in negativity and pondering too much about things that aren't worth your time really tends to bring you down, so let's not ponder over nonsensical stuff and let's put our faith into the great unknown!

Cheers to July and may everyone be blessed with great and wonderful happenings!

Luv,  YW
